Because; Be proud. *--Feet shuffling forward in a proud motion, careful not to trip, head held high. In her world, Because was the Queen. She loved herself and nobody could stop that. She flicked her hooves toward the sky this time, and began more of a bouncing pace. Even though she was older than young as she used to be, she was powerful still with lots of energy. She couldn't help it, she just felt great these days. She pictured herself as the Queen of the West, or lead mare, every other horse groveling at her feet, bringing to her food and water. With a snort she threw her head back in joy.
*--She might not have known the difference between proud and overproud. It might have been difficult for her, since she isn't exactly the brightest when it comes down to thinking of anything but herself. She was very obnoxious, even as a foal. The sun pounded down on her back, causing her to sweat. My poor, gorgeous coat... she thought to herself, once again about herself. A soft breeze drifted through, enveloping her gently and caressing her sore bodice before it moved on. With a sigh, the Queen picked up the pace to a canter.
*--As soon as she reached the lake, she, with a flick of her inky black ribbon, flung herself into at the highest possible speed she could manage. She dove under the refreshing water and kicked her powerful hind legs toward the surface before she allowed her dome to break through the surface powerfully, flinging it back, her banner splaying water in every direction, gasping. A tiny laugh escaped her velvets before she kicked back toward the shallower water, where she began to drink greedily. Silently, she raised her dome and held it high, her orbs watching every movement, her audits perked high to listen. She smirked. The Queen, Because, was back.

Lightening struggled to stand on the other side of the lake, eyes landing on a pitch black mare that came bounding in, causing him to flinch and wince in the same motion. New horses. He was way to used to being alone these last two weeks. He was just beginning the weaning procress the day before the fire, and now being ripped away from his mother he really just wanted to be alone. But apparently that wasn't going to happen. He was surprised at his bitter thought, but he'd been changing the last month anyway. Drainied of his spirt, confidence....and apparently kindness, the fire had left him with nothing. Although he knew he would never speak to the mare that way, had he be given the chance. If his mother had died, he had no idea. He was really the only one who had gone around the lake to the other side where the fire was not burning....heavily. He wasn't quite fast enough to keep up with the herd when they had run off.
Lightening watched the mare who had come engluf herself into the water and then start to drink from it. He had been doing a lot of what she was doing now lately, and he often wondered about who was still trying to reach the lake. Right now, he layed on the bank of the lake, watching her. She wasn't going to go away, that was probably for sure, the horses that had reached the lake within the last month hadn't gone far and often returned to the lake. No body had taken notice of him, and he couldn't figure out if he was grateful for this or...not. Part of him longed for company, while another part...did not at all. He was to used to being alone. Being alone was not something scarce lately, his black coat was not something that many horses took notice to, unlike if he didn't have any pigment and was white, which would practically make him a flashing light. At only 7 months, it wasn't normal for him to want to be alone. But whatever. Who cared anyway? Lightening kept watching the mare, who he knew soon would probably move on, but of course, like the rest that had found their way here, wouldn't stray far.

Because; Be proud. *--Dome still held high, her orb caught something black on the other side of the lake. A smiled caught on her kissers. A young foal, it seemed. She smiled invitingly. "Why, hello, young one. You are all alone, did the fire separate you from your mother?" Because soothed softly. The poor foal. She had never really been much of a mother, nor had she even actually thought of having a foal. She never actually thought about how it would affect her.
*--Suddenly feeling weary, Because sighed and flung herself into the water again, grateful to be refreshed. It was amazing. Her mane sprayed water everywhere before she ducked under and began to swim across the lake, coming up regularly for air. Her audits were pricked hoping that she didn't make the foal scared or offended. She gently pushed onward, careful, her head still held high. What happens if he doesn't like me? she pondered endlessly, before grinning and shaking her head. Of course he'll like me, I am Because, the Queen, after all! she laughed out loud, and there was her confidence, higher than the sky.

Lightened stayed in his spot, looking at the mare. The mud covered him a little bit, and he savored the coolness of it. He flinched a bit when the mare spoke to him, voices were something he had not heard in a while, and he tried to figure out if she was really speaking to him. What was he thinking!? Of course she was speaking to him, unless some other strange horse had shown up. Not quite sure if he was pleased or irritated by her speaking to him, he hesitated to answer. "Yeah." Lightening answer quietly to the mare. The mare had gone out and was splashing in the water again.

Because; Be proud. *--Hooves touching sand as her sleek figure hauled up onto the shore, where she delicately pranced over in front of the foal. But, instead of holding her head high like she usually did, she kept it low, to his height. She gave a gentle shake of her inky black mane, and it looked like somebody had taking a ink container and let all the ink from it run down from her mane, a wave. Because spoke again, more soothing and gently this time. "I won't be leaving the lake area for awhile, and so I can stay and keep you company, if you'd like." she offered. It wasn't meant to make the colt uncomfortable, just to make him feel the opposite; comforted. She decided to let her shield drop for him. "I'm Because, by the way." It almost slipped; Because, the Queen, but she held it back from slipping through, knowing it would be bad news for her if it had. No company. And secretly, she longed for much company.
*--The heat still pounded on her back, and, let's face it, she still worried about her "perfect" coat. Hoof beats thudded around in her head, causing her difficulty in breathing, allowing her to remember why she had put up so many walls around herself. Her mother, dead when she had been born, Night's foal, dead. Night took Because in, raised her with more love that she could ever imagine. The thudding of her heart when she had first met Acario, the first love she had ever felt. Everybody talked about first loves, but she had only had one, until that dreaded night.
*--The snow storm had been horrid, it had been the one winter she had went out on her own before she returned to see Night. He had said he loved her for the first time, and she had down the same. Little did they know that they were walking right onto a frozen pond, where it cracked beneath their feet, bringing Acario and Because down with it. The cracking of the ice rang out in her mind, bringing her back. She had been carrying Acario's foal, she remembered, and it was almost birthing time. Even though she had still been only a year and a half, she had been playing with Acario and he wanted to try something, that resulted in bad things. A wave washed over her again, and she was back to remembering things she wish she had never experienced.
*--The two had been scrambling to reach the surface above the ice, something hit them, killing their foal and taking Acario's life as he had shoved her to the surface and drowned. She had dreaded that memory. The only reason I remember was because I allowed myself to open up to the colt. she grumbled inside her head.

Lightening watched her quietly for a moment, silent as she spoke. He kept his poistion, lying on the ground in a sort of heap. His black eyes to match his and her coat stared up at her as she spoke, struggling to comprehend a bit. He wasn't sure if he wanted her to stay with him, he had finally over the last week or so gotten used to being alone, adjusted so to speak. He didn't wish to have company with all of the older horses, they were so much bigger and enjoyed the company of eachother rather than him. And the fact that noone had taken the time to notice him, so who knew if he longed to be noticed or if he was happy with the solitude? He certainly didn't know."Uhm...Okay" He muttered barley audiiblely.
Lightened notice the mare held herself different now, not like he had first precieved her as, strong and......feeling alive is what she had looked like. Different than he felt. He knew he was alive, and as well as he could be, but mentally not so much. She seemed much farther ahead of him in that category. "Lightening" He said in reply. As she stood before him now her head was lowered, and she seemed lost in thought that he wasn't about to try and dechiper. Different than she seemed bounding into the lake.
